6 essential cafes in & around Nainital

When it comes to coffee, Nainital has it pretty good. It has an adequately decent number of cafes that let travellers hit the heights of having coffee in South Delhi or Kormangla Street when the coffee passes through their lips. These boutique eateries are on the rise and hosted by the best hoteliers in town. These chic spots are leading the lights for Nainital and seek inspiration from top roasters across the country.

Some offer mystical mountain views, while others let you soak in the typical Bohemian theme you are dying to experience.

Cafe Lake Side Nainital

Once in a while, you find corners so cosy you never leave the spot. Such is cafe Lakeside. Edged on the upper mall, overlooking the gorgeous Nainital Lake, Cafe Lakeside has given endless pleasant evenings to visitors who crave hot coffee, great food and meaningful conversations. Its luxurious interiors and great aromas set your mood right the moment you step in. The music playlist from the 90's and 2000s is one thing you'd want to steal immediately.

The outer courtyard overlooking Naini lake is more than just cosy sofas, tinkling wind chimes, sparkling fairy lights, and wafting aromas. Here one can witness the classic Himalayan life in its true essence.

The menu at Cafe Lakeside is quite extensive. You can set your mood with spicy Asian fare, comforting desi fare or an indulgent European spread. It's truly an enriching experience.

I heart Cafe, Bhimtal

This ultra-chic place opened up in 2016, and since then, it has been the talk of the town among locals and travellers. Raw bricks and wood are used in abundance and give you the heritage touch the moment you set foot inside the place. The Yellow lighting throughout the cafe gives you a very comforting feeling.

The outdoor area is as cool as the interior sitting and offers ample space for recreation and jamming sessions.

With their in-house bakery, you surely cannot miss the best burger buns in town. Garlic bread has been in our hearts forever now. The cafe serves the best expresso-based drinks in Kumaon, and its extensive menu brings Indian and European platters to the table.

Cafe Pots and Stones, Haldwani

This legend spot in Haldwani has come on in giant strides, first since opening and second since starting to roast its own coffee — a transition that countless have attempted and many have failed. It pioneered the idea of boutique coffee space in Kumaon and still does it with style. With a newly refurbished space and a renewed quality of the drinks and food, Pots and stones cafe is Kumaon's most exciting place to have a conversation. It is as Kumaoni as much as it is Bohemian.

With its delectable menu and super cosy ambience, it is still the number one cafe around Nainital.
